We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Practice Management Officer to join our dynamic Practice Management Team within Birmingham City Council’s Legal and Governance Department. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a team of over 130 legal professionals, ensuring they have the tools, systems, and support they need to deliver high-quality legal services across the city. What You’ll Be Doing As a Practice Management Officer, you will: Provide essential administrative and operational support across finance and IT functions Manage financial transactions, including invoice processing, procurement, and client billing Support ICT needs, including equipment procurement, system access, and troubleshooting Coordinate and contribute to internal projects, including system upgrades, process improvements, and service delivery initiatives Track project milestones, maintain documentation, and liaise with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes Maintain and update performance reports, central records, and data dashboards Assist with logistics such as travel arrangements, meeting coordination, and office supplies Ensure compliance with data protection and health & safety standards What We’re Looking For 1–2 years’ experience in office/practice management, IT support, or a similar role Strong organisational and planning skills, with a proactive and results-driven approach Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence working with data and reports A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Experience in a professional services setting or with financial/ICT systems is desirable, but we also encourage applications from candidates with transferable skills from technical support or case management backgrounds.
