An exciting opportunity to join the R&D Lab working on cutting edge solutions of photonic components. About the Company: They are advancing the future of photonics with high-performance solutions for data, telecom, and next-gen optical technologies. Their R&D and fabrication teams work at the forefront of semiconductor process innovation, enabling scalable, reliable, and precision-engineered photonic components. Role Overview: We’re looking for a senior-level photolithography expert with deep technical experience in compound semiconductor manufacturing, specifically around Indium Phosphide (InP) photonic devices. You’ll lead complex development efforts from mask design to patterning optimization, enabling the next wave of scalable, high-yield photonics manufacturing. Key Responsibilities: Lead development of advanced photolithography processes tailored for InP photonics. Oversee lithography tool setup, calibration, and process qualification. Work with design and epitaxy teams to turn complex device concepts into fabrication-ready photonic structures. Drive process control, defect analysis, and reliability improvements across wafers and runs. Guide engineering teams and contribute hands-on to cleanroom process execution. Research and apply emerging lithography techniques and photoresist technologies. Ensure alignment of R&D projects with technical and strategic goals. Requirements: PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or related. 12 years of hands-on experience in photolithography for compound semiconductors or photonics. Strong knowledge of resist systems, mask design, and lithographic patterning. Familiarity with cleanroom equipment (steppers, aligners, coaters) and process tools (SEM, AFM, profilometers). Deep understanding of InP photonics, optoelectronic devices, and semiconductor processing. Skilled in statistical process control and root-cause troubleshooting. Proven leadership in cross-functional technical teams. This is a permanent, on-site role in Ipswich By applying to this role you understand that we may collect your personal data and store and process it on our systems.
