Minerva Training & Recruitment is recruiting residential senior support workers on behalf of Duty of Care Ltd in the Barnard Castle area.

Duty of Care Limited provides high quality care for children and young people with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties. We offer therapeutic care for children and young people aged 8‑17 years old. You will work as a Residential Care Worker at one of our three bedded residential homes that offers a safe, secure and fun family environment for young people in the care of the local authority.
We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and experienced Senior Support Staff.
You will be responsible for supporting Children and Young People by engaging them in various activities such as horse riding, BMX club, days out/holidays, at home activities, cinemas, trampolining, swimming and any other activities identified. You will also support them with their education and health needs, and help maintain a high standard of housekeeping. You will support the Deputy Manager and the Registered Manager in the management of the staff team.
The ideal candidate will be qualified to at least Diploma Level 3 Health and Social Care, Children and Young People or equivalent, or be working towards it, with a view to completing a Level 5 if you want to progress to management. Successful shortlisted candidates for the Senior positions will have at least two years’ experience working with young people who have suffered severe trauma, multiple placement breakdowns and can manage challenging behaviours as a symptom.
You are expected to be IT literate in order to prepare relevant reports, and maintain good professional relationships with young people, their families and external agencies.

Both homes are located in picturesque villages, therefore the candidate would need to have full access to a vehicle and arrange business insurance accordingly.

Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent
Salary: £32,000 – £34,000 per year

Qualifications:
* Experience as a Support Worker or in similar roles in a residential or care setting
* Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities to build positive relationships
* Knowledge of safeguarding protocols and the ability to implement them effectively
* Technical support skills for managing basic system‑related tasks as part of daily activities
* Qualification of at least Diploma Level 3 Health and Social Care, Children and Young People or equivalent, or be working towards it
* Minimum of two years’ experience working with young people who have suffered severe trauma and can manage challenging behaviours
