Job description
Through our exclusive partnership with SWECO Building Control, we are pleased to showcase an opportunity to join their experienced Preston team - An opportunity to deal with some of the most prestige commercial projects within the UK, whilst working within a team containing a wealth of BC knowledge. For their Preston team, they are open to surveyors at various levels, the minimum requirement being class 2D, but also senior / principal surveyors at class 2F or class 3!
Key Responsibilities:
For a Building Control Surveyor, responsibilities will include:
1. Achieving specific objectives defined by others
2. Working with the wider team to develop objectives using their own experience and interacting with others to resolve issues.
3. Completing certain aspects in their arena of responsibility in the bids that are submitted
4. Understanding the risk profile within a contract and generating new business opportunities from that understanding as required
5. Knowing what part they will play in the overall game plan generally in a supportive capacity.
6. Helping develop themselves to great technical skill
7. Conducting thorough inspections of commercial buildings to ensure compliance with building regulations and standards
8. Assessing plans, specifications, and designs to confirm they meet legal requirement
For Senior / Principal Building Control Surveyors:
9. Being able to work and perhaps manage a large-scale technical Project that has complex strands and be knowledgeable about all aspects of the project.
10. Takes responsibility for contractual liability in the bids submitted in their remit
11. Understand the risk profile within a contract and may generate new business opportunities from that understanding
12. Taking the game plan and approaching known contacts in the plan and engage with them to generate sales and further relationships, knowing what part they play in the overall game plan
13. Helping develop the technical team members, enhancing their technical skills by sharing own experiences and making sure all Senior Surveyors & Surveyors are developing their own expertise levels
14. Ensuring all prospects, proposals and tenders are submitted in accordance with the Sweco Process
Job Requirements:
15. Experience in building control and inspections
16. 2D RBI upwards
17. Strong understanding of current building regulations and compliance standards
18. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
19. Ability to review and assess technical construction documentation
20. A proactive approach to problem solving and conflict resolution
21. Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality
22. Registered building inspector status (flexibility on level)
