Job Summary
Wrightbus, the fastest-growing production company in Europe, is seeking a Quality Technician - Composites. This role ensures high-performance composite components used in vehicle bodywork, chassis structures, and interior parts meet strict quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include conducting inspections throughout manufacturing, identifying quality issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to deliver lightweight, high-precision components.
Responsibilities
1. Conduct quality checks on composite components at various stages of production to ensure compliance with specifications.
2. Inspect raw materials, pre-pregs, and lay-ups for conformity to specifications.
3. Verify part dimensions and surface finish using precision measurement tools and visual inspection techniques.
4. Interpret technical drawings, engineering documentation, and work orders.
5. Identify and document defects, deviations, and non-conformities, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
6. Ensure compliance with company quality standards, customer specifications, safety regulations, and industry requirements.
7. Assist in developing and enforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality assurance.
8. Conduct audits and assessments of manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
9. Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken.
10. Prepare quality reports and present findings to supervisors and production teams.
11. Assist in root cause analysis and the development of preventive measures.
12. Ensure all rectification/rework is carried out and meets standards.
13. Implement relevant processes and procedures within the Quality Management System (QMS).
14. Communicate with personnel at all levels regarding Quality matters.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above, or an apprenticeship qualification.
* 2+ years' experience in a manufacturing composites environment.
* 1 year of previous quality inspection experience in manufacturing or fabrication.
* Ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
* Strong understanding of quality control processes, inspection techniques, and defect analysis.
* Working knowledge of quality procedures, tool calibration, and continuous improvement.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
* Proficiency in using metrology tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
