Full-Time SEN Learning Support Assistant

Are you passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives and looking for your next career move? At GSL Education, we’re partnered with a warm, values-driven secondary school in Dibden Purlieu, and we’re seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their dedicated team supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) & Learning Difficulties in their Resource Base.

About the School

The school is rooted in the heart of the community, with a strong emphasis on “Believe, Respect, Determination”. They describe their environment as caring, ambitious and empowering, where each student is seen as an individual and supported to thrive, both academically and personally. The school champions inclusive education and invests in its extra-curricular offer, really emphasising a whole-school ethos in which staff, students and families work in partnership.

The Role

As a full-time LSA based within the Resource Base, you will:

* Provide high-quality support to students with SEN and learning difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and engage with learning activities.
* Work alongside the Resource Base Lead and class teachers to adapt resources, deliver differentiated learning tasks and monitor student progress.
* Support students through social, emotional and academic transitions, helping them build confidence and independence.
* Contribute to the inclusive culture of the school; liaise with teaching staff, therapists and other support departments as needed.
* Be a visible, reliable presence within the Resource Base and across the school site, promoting positive behaviour and high expectations.

Who We’re Looking For

You may come from a school-based role already (such as an existing LSA or TA), or from a support background that has transferable skills. Ideal candidates will have:

* Experience working with children or young people with SEN, learning difficulties, or additional needs (this could be in school, a support/work-care setting, or as a support worker/care worker).
* A calm, patient, flexible approach and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families.
* Good communication and organisational skills, along with the willingness to deliver discreet, tailored support to meet students’ needs.
* A commitment to inclusive education and to helping young people achieve the best possible outcomes.
* The enthusiasm and reliability to be part of a team who really care about students’ futures.

Why join via GSL Education?

At GSL Education, our expert consultants specialise in education recruitment and will guide you through every step of the process from application to interview, to contract. We’re here to support your career development and help you find a role where you can stay and grow, not just ‘cover’. Since we know the schools, the staff and their values, we’ll ensure you’re matched to the right environment for longevity and job satisfaction.

Key Details

* Contract type: Permanent, full-time (Monday to Friday)
* Hours: Term time only
* Location: Secondary school in Dibden Purlieu, New Forest district (with good access to Southampton & surrounding areas)
* Start date: As soon as possible, subject to suitability and checks
* Salary: Competitive, aligned with support staff pay scale, further details will be provided upon application

If you’re ready to step into a supportive, meaningful role where your work truly matters, and you have the experience or transferable skills we mentioned, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply: Please send your CV and a brief cover note (max 300 words) highlighting your relevant experience and what you can bring to the Resource Base. One of our specialist consultants at GSL Education will contact you promptly and support you through the process.

Join us at GSL Education and secure a role where you can lighten the world for young people and build a fulfilling career in SEN support. We look forward to working with you!
