We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Logistics to lead our logistics and distribution function, continuing our pursuit to create a Great Place To Work and industry leading Customer experience. The role combines operational leadership with continuous improvement, stakeholder management and people development. The successful candidate will be accountable for end-to-end logistics performance, ensuring safe, reliable and cost‑effective delivery of goods while supporting the business's growth and sustainability ambitions.
Main Responsibilities for Head of Logistics
* Lead and manage the logistics team, including warehouse, transport, planning and third-party logistics partners
* Develop and implement logistics strategy to support commercial objectives, improve service levels and reduce costs
* Oversee end-to-end supply chain processes: inbound receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and returns
* Own transport operations and carrier relationships, negotiating contracts and monitoring performance KPIs
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data and technology to optimise routes, inventory and workflows
* Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations across logistics operations
* Maintain accurate logistics reporting, forecasting and budgeting; present insights to senior leadership
* Manage stock accuracy, loss prevention and cycle count programmes to support inventory integrity
* Support cross-functional collaboration with procurement, stores, customer service and store operations
* Lead recruitment, training and development for logistics colleagues, fostering an inclusive and high‑performing culture
Skills and Experience Required
* Proven leadership experience in logistics, distribution or supply chain management at a senior level
* Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, transport management and inventory control best practice
* Experience managing third‑party logistics providers and negotiating commercial agreements
* Excellent analytical skills with experience of using data and systems (WMS, TMS, ERP) to drive decisions
* Demonstrable track record of delivering cost savings, service improvements and operational change
* Effective people leader with experience of coaching, performance management and building diverse teams
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence at all levels
* Proactive, organised and resilient with good attention to detail and a solution‑orientated approach
* Full UK driving licence desirable; flexibility for occasional site and supplier visits required
