Job summary
Newham Health Collaborative (NHC), a Community Interest Company, is seeking to recruit a Non-Executive Director (NED) with a background in Finance. The post is being advertised, and the appointment will be considered by the NHC Board following a formal selection process.
The Non-Executive Director will ensure that the Board acts in the best interests of NHC and its service users, members, and the wider public work, collaborating with the Chair in supporting Newham Health Collaborative.
The Non-Executive Director will join the NHC Board, which is made up of 10 members: 7 General Practitioners, one non-Exec Board member, and the Chief Executive.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they meet the NHC NED competency framework for board members and provide evidence of how they can support the CIC to develop and grow in its aim to promote the health of our community.
Main duties of the job
1. Support the Chair and Board to ensure the good governance of the organisation.
2. Assist the Chair and Board to ensure the quality and safety of healthcare services delivered by NHC.
3. Support the Board and Chair, and personally commit to working to, and encouraging within NHC, the highest standards of probity, integrity, and governance.
4. Assist fellow directors in setting NHC's strategic aims, ensuring that the necessary financial and human resources are in place for the organisation to meet its objectives.
5. Work closely with the Finance Director and the Chief Executive of NHC to ensure good financial governance and oversight.

Newham Health Collaborative CIC (NHC) is a GP federation representing all the GP practices within the Newham borough boundaries, covering a population of approximately 400,000 patients. We are established as a Community Interest Company, wholly owned by our 43 GP practice members. We reinvest any surplus into services for primary care and our patients.

Person Specification
Experience
Essential
* Board or senior management experience in a large and complex organisation.
* Understanding of the obligations of a Company Director.
* Deep understanding and experience of financial oversight, audit, and good governance.
* Experience as an Audit Chair or similar financial role on a Company Board or at a senior level.
* Ability to develop and monitor the effectiveness of strategy.
* Interest or experience in primary care, mental health, acute, and community health services.
* Able to gain credibility with senior leaders, clinicians, and local communities.
Desirable
* Knowledge of diverse local communities.
* Experience working in or with the public sector.
* Deep interest in and commitment to equality issues.
* Previous Non-Executive Director experience.
* Company leadership background.
