The Opportunity
As an INR Site Inspector specialising in electrical systems, you'll provide independent assurance and challenge across Hinkley Point C, supporting our journey towards An Electric Britain. Your work will influence electrical safety, quality and compliance at every level, helping us deliver a project that sets global benchmarks.
You'll join us on a salary starting at least £85,000 per annum, with potential for an annual bonus. This role is based at our Hinkley Point C site, with occasional travel to other EDF locations for training and collaboration.
To be successful in this role, you will have a deep understanding of UK regulatory nuclear, or heavily regulated industry, standards and expectations, along with detailed knowledge of best practices and codes in construction and industrial safety. You should be able to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels within a diverse project organisation. Innovation and a holistic approach are key, as you'll need to think critically and implement actions with engagement and thoughtfulness. As a self-starter, you'll bring strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities efficiently. Exceptional presentation and communication skills are essential, along with strong ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
Who You Are
We're looking for an INR Site Inspector with strong electrical engineering expertise who thrives on independence, integrity and collaboration. To be shortlisted, you need to offer:
* Knowledge of Electrical engineering and/or Instrumentation & Control.
* Knowledge of relevant nuclear industry and international standards from organisations such as the ONR, WANO and the IAEA.
* Knowledge of other relevant UK Environmental and Health and Safety legislation including Nuclear Installation Act 1965, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Construction (Design Management) Regulations 2015, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
* Experience of nuclear or complex infrastructure construction/installation projects
* Knowledge and experience of making proportionate risk-informed decisions
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will ordinarily require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
What You'll Be Doing
* Inspecting electrical installations and systems to ensure compliance with nuclear and industrial safety standards
* Providing independent assurance of electrical safety leadership and decision-making
* Assessing and challenging electrical design, commissioning and maintenance processes
* Observing behaviours and decision-making in key project forums
* Reporting findings and insights to senior leadership and regulators
* Able to deliver difficult messages by creating confidence, through crafting of strong justifications and arguments and tailoring messages to suit the audience.
* The ability to influence and to provide constructive challenge which is accepted by others.
* The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
