General Operative Howdens are recruiting General Operatives to join our team based at Howdens Work Surfaces, our solid surfaces production facility in Normanton, Wakefield. These roles will enable us to deliver our forecasted growth and extend our service to our customers. In these roles, you will be crucial in helping produce high-quality solid surfaces. Key responsibilities include: Operating Machinery: Set up and run saws, polishing machines, and CNC equipment Quality Control: Perform regular quality checks to ensure the final product meets our high standards Safety Compliance: Follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times to maintain a safe working environment Finishing Worktops: Assisting in the finishing department, polishing worktops based on technical drawings, preparing them for final inspection Grinding & Polishing: Responsible for grinding and polishing granite and quartz surfaces to achieve a smooth or lustrous finish using portable grinding and polishing tools Pay rate and shift pattern: £34,509.80 per annum £4,732.08 shift allowance Night shift - 5:45pm – 4am Monday to Thursday Opportunities for overtime Benefits of working for Howdens as a General Operative: 25 days bank holidays per year and the opportunity to buy extra holidays Competitive salary and generous shift allowance Pension plan with a maximum company contribution of 12% Staff discount Free parking & free daily lunch at our on-site canteen Friendly and supportive environment offering exceptional reward and recognition Clean, modern factory using state of the art machinery About Howdens Howdens Joinery is the UK’s number one trade kitchen supplier providing thousands of products across kitchens, joinery, and hardware.
