We are seeking a Director of Information Systems to shape and lead the IS capability across our UK Contract Logistics portfolio driving the technology, data, and system landscape that powers some of the most demanding and highly regulated supply chains in the country. This is more than a leadership role, it is a pivotal position at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and operational excellence. You will lead the systems, data, integrations, and IS-driven transformation that underpin our Government & Defence contracts alongside major Healthcare, Consumer, and Automotive customers. In an environment where resilience, security, and scalability are non-negotiable, you will play a critical role in ensuring our information systems not only meet the highest regulatory and compliance standards, but also enable high volume, high performance operations fully aligned with Kuehne+Nagel’s global technology vision.
Responsibilities
* Define and deliver the Information Systems strategy for UK Contract Logistics, aligned with business priorities, customer commitments, and global platforms.
* Provide senior leadership and direction across a complex, multi‑sector contract portfolio.
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders on systems capability, investment, and delivery risk.
* Develop and maintain key internal and external stakeholder and strategic relationships with Customers and vendors.
* Lead and govern IS project and change delivery across the UK Contract Logistics portfolio.
* Provide Information Systems leadership across all UK Contract Logistics contracts, including large‑scale Government & Defence programmes.
* Ensure information systems meet contractual requirements, service levels, and regulatory obligations.
* Establish and maintain strong IS governance across UK Contract Logistics operations.
* Own the performance and suitability of operational information systems, including warehouse management systems, transport management systems, integrations, and reporting platforms.
* Own budgets associated with Information Systems and IS delivery across UK Contract Logistics.
* Manage application vendors, systems integrators, and IS service partners.
* Lead and develop a high‑performing UK Information Systems function supporting Contract Logistics operations.
* Build capability to support both stable live environments and sustained delivery of change.
* Foster close collaboration between Information Systems, Operations, Commercial teams, and customers.
Qualifications
* Significant senior leadership experience in Information Systems within complex operational, logistics, or industrial environments.
* Strong track record of delivering large‑scale IS change and projects in live, business‑critical operations.
* Experience working across multi‑customer portfolios with varying regulatory and commercial requirements.
* Deep understanding of operational applications, integrations, data, and systems governance.
* Proven ability to engage credibly with senior customers and executive stakeholders.
* Strong commercial awareness and experience managing vendor relationships and investment decisions.
* Excellent leadership, written and verbal communication and influencing skills.
* Proven record customer relationship management.
