An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bolton Council’s Safeguarding Team as a Family Support Worker. This is a rewarding and dynamic role where you’ll work alongside Safeguarding Social Workers to deliver high-quality interventions with children and families, helping them achieve positive and lasting outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct work with children and families, supporting positive routines, boundaries, and behaviour management strategies.
Facilitate and supervise Family Time sessions, ensuring safe and meaningful contact between children and their families.
Support families subject to Child in Need, Child Protection, and court proceedings.
Conduct home visits, contribute to assessments, and work collaboratively with social workers to inform care planning.
Help families access community services, budgeting advice, and early help support.
Record and report interventions accurately and timely using agreed systems.Requirements
A relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g. Health and Social Care, Childcare, Youth Work, Early Years, or similar).
Previous experience working with children and families, ideally within safeguarding, early help, or similar support settings.
Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
A good understanding of child development, safeguarding, and evidence-based family support interventions.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as you may need to travel across Bolton at short notice.
Willingness to work some evenings and weekends to meet service needs.Additional Information
