Purpose of the role
Colas are responsible for the eight-year Maintenance & Response contract for National Highways Area 9. The contract covers around 2,300 miles of Strategic Road Network within Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, and Shropshire, as well as parts of Gloucestershire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire. We deliver cyclical maintenance, reactive maintenance, incident response, severe weather response and minor works in a region that has five strategically critical motorway interchange junctions, as well as being at the heart of the new HS2 network. Area 9 is a critical transport hub enabling customer journeys across the UK.
Here at Colas Ltd. we are looking for a Plant and Transport (P&T) Coordinator to be based at our Warndon office in Worcester (WR4 0AA) to work within the P&T team on the Area 9 contract to supply support to the Plant and Transport Manager with compliancy, legal and DVSA requirements.
Main Responsibilities
As a P&T Coordinator you will be responsible for co-ordinating Plant & Equipment movements for all contract responsibilities in accordance with operational requirements. Maintaining a professional approach which would positively reflect the image of the company. You will develop and update regular activity schedules. On a day to day you will have interaction with sub-contractors ensuring all appropriate information and competency requirements are made available in connection with all procured services. Assisting with the Management of the Maintenance of Vehicle and Equipment Servicing Schedules. Ensuring that LOLER, HSAW, PUWER. Legislative Compliance and Company Policy are adhered to will be a crucial parr of this role. You will be supporting with the Defects Reports for Plant, Vehicles and Equipment. Adhere to VOR Best Practice and arrange timely repairs of defects with maintenance providers. You will record action taken with reference to defect rectification. and collate supporting documents. You will ensure H&S is adhered to within the workplace. You will be assisting with the maintenance planning of the fleet. Promote and enhance safety awareness in the business, encouraging a zero tolerance to unsafe acts via On-board Camera Technology. You will be raising purchase orders for maintenance and repair activity of Fleet, be it Legal Compliance, Preventative Maintenance or Reactive Maintenance when required. (MOT, 6 Weekly PMI’s, Servicing, Repair of Defects etc). Ensure accurate documentation retention in relation to all Maintenance Activity, Legal Compliance requirement and Company and Best Practice policies. Maintain Asset and Fleet Register. You will arrange installation, de-activation / re-deployment of Tracker Facilities and On Board Camera Technology. You will undertake any other appropriate duties as required by Line Manager.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have have English and Maths A-C. You will have a minimum of 3 years experience in workshop maintenance. You will ideally have had experience within fleet admin and vehicle compliance. You must have great communication skills and work well both on your own and in a team. It is essential you are a good planner with great attention to detail and be able to build relationships. A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
