Overview
New Barn School is seeking full-time Teaching Assistants/Classroom Assistants to join our team. This permanent, term-time role is part of a growing school that serves SEMH pupils aged 6-19 across three sites.
As part of Outcomes First Group and Acorn Education, we are piloting a 4-Day Working Week (4DWW) where you may work one fewer day per week (or equivalent hours) while receiving full-time pay. The position is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm (finishing at 5:00pm in some cases).
Responsibilities
* Connect with pupils to help maximise their learning, preparing materials and running classroom activities with hands-on involvement and some supervision.
* Support pupils’ emotional and physical needs to help them develop as individuals and engage with the world.
* Support pupils with complex Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs and adopt a therapeutic approach when appropriate.
Qualifications
* Experience of working in the SEMH sector and with pupils with SEN is highly desirable.
* Willingness to adopt a therapeutic approach to teaching and working with SEN/SEMH pupils.
* Experience with ASC is highly desirable.
