Mitie are recruiting for an experienced Cleaning Contract Manager with a strong background in food hygiene and food manufacturing. This role leads the hygiene operation on a busy food production site, ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness, compliance and service delivery.
Role Overview
As the Cleaning Contract Manager – Food Hygiene, you will be responsible for all cleaning and hygiene activities across the site. You will ensure full compliance with food safety legislation, BRC standards, and site-specific hygiene requirements, while managing and developing a large team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain, update and audit all operational documentation, including: Daily, periodic and deep-clean schedules Cleaning Risk Assessments Cleaning Instruction Cards Training records
2. Lead, train and develop hygiene operatives and supervisors, ensuring all training requirements are met.
3. Ensure all hygiene activities within the food manufacturing environment are completed to strict food safety and hygiene standards.
4. Carry out internal compliance audits and hygiene inspections, and support BRC and customer audit processes.
5. Work flexibly to meet changing operational and client needs.
6. Oversee contract delivery, ensuring all activities follow Mitie procedures.
7. Manage labour hours, staffing levels, budget and site resources effectively.
What We're Looking For
8. Motivated, adaptable and confident manager.
9. Strong experience within Food Manufacturing, Food Hygiene or FMCG environments (essential).
10. Proven experience managing hygiene or cleaning operations within a food production site.
11. Level 3 Food Safety qualification (desirable).
12. Experience with BRC standards and audit preparation.
13. Excellent communication skills and competent user of Microsoft Office.
14. Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
15. Full UK Driving Licence (essential) to support wider operational duties.
