Full and part time opportunities for Patient Engagement and Communication Officer
The post-holder will support the communication and engagement activity of the Service ensuring the delivery of proactive strategies through a robust approach to external and internal communications & participation and social marketing using a variety of techniques.
The post holder will be required to work as a team ensuring that they are able to use their initiative for lone working tasks.
Main duties of the job
Plan and organise Patient & GP Practice engagement events to increase awareness of Diabetic Eye Screening to raise uptake levels.
Develop excellent communication materials which are reflective of national and organisational guidance and are in line with current best practice for Eye Screening. The post-holder will be expected to promote Eye Screening branding to provide clear and consistent communications.
The individual will be expected to arrange and co-ordinate meetings, events and campaigns on behalf of the team.
Responsible for patient contact to engage with long-term non-attenders
Contributing to a positive working environment focussed on high performance and delivery of results
Act as first point of contact for the communications team. Answer and deal with general enquires independently and draft correspondence.
Take a lead on developing specific social media initiatives.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Carries out work requiring consideration of a range of facts and options, e.g. communication methods, how to present information for relevant audiences.
Manage personal workload and able to use own initiative when prioritising workload and dealing with incoming enquiries.
The post holder will be required to work without direct supervision in relation to administrative processes, exercising discretion when responding to telephone enquiries, prioritisation of own workload and using initiative to make suggestions for improvements to working practices.
Communication and relationships
Communicate professionally and effectively both written and verbally with senior management, clinicians and colleagues internally and in external organisations.
Communicate professionally, confidentially and with discretion to members of the public, service users, carers, police and various external organisations, via telephone or face to face.
Provides and receives sensitive information regarding the Trust and in response to service user queries.
Provides nonclinical advice to patients/clients/relatives, e.g. regarding events, appointments.
Support new employees or staff in others departments on communication issues as appropriate.

Essential criteria
Diploma or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant field.
IT literate including MS Office written English skills and numerate.
