Job Description:
Roxel is an Anglo-French company that designs, develops, and manufactures solid propellant rocket motors for tactical missiles. Operations are across several sites in the UK and France, with an annual turnover of about £150M and nearly 1000 staff. The UK operations are based at Summerfield, Kidderminster.
The Trainee NG and Burning Ground Technician responsibilities include executing the production or disposal plan according to the Master Production Schedule or Burning Ground schedule, OTOCOQ. Focus on safety, following instructions from managers or supervisors, supporting quality, process optimization, and preparing relevant documentation safely and efficiently.
You will have experience and knowledge to ensure effective process utilization, maximizing daily productivity. Monitoring team performance with KPIs & PSPI, maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency to meet customer and business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Promote zero harm by following health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring staff and visitor safety, and supporting company processes.
* Use safe working methods in all processes aiming for zero harm.
* Support updating risk and COSHH assessments with management and technical support.
* Update SHE Plan returns and safety records promptly.
* Maintain personal training to perform duties effectively.
* Manage time efficiently through direct work bookings aligned with business demands.
* Adhere to manufacturing processes at all times.
* Assist in resolving manufacturing issues, including breakdowns, and manage permits to work.
* Contribute to daily work lists, working with Materials Planning and Logistics.
* Ensure accurate use of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
* Follow production standards, TPM, and site regulations.
* Promote 6S and Lean methodologies through training and coaching for a well-organized environment.
* Support daily QRQC and SQCDPI meetings, escalating issues as needed.
* Assist in maintaining site supplies and inventory, preventing outages, and escalating shortages.
* Properly segregate, label, and store waste materials.
* Maintain records and prepare documentation such as Route Cards, Skill Points, and Training Records.
* Support new product or process implementation and foster continuous improvement.
* Contribute to risk assessments and problem-solving activities.
* Coordinate with stakeholders and communicate effectively across departments.
* Represent the business during stakeholder visits and support external communications regarding disposals.
* Collect contaminated explosive waste, ensuring paperwork accuracy, and communicate disruptions.
* Perform other duties as required by the business.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND
Qualifications and Experience:
* 5 GCSEs at level 4 or above, including Maths & English.
* Desirable: IOSH Managing Safely, Yellow Belt in Lean Manufacturing or similar, experience in manufacturing/warehouse, strong IT skills, experience with EN9100 or quality management systems.
