Assistant Accountant / Graduate Accountant — Carrickfergus (BT38) — Salary c.£28K - £32K DOE
Our client is a well-established, successful and progressive leading British manufacturer with distribution across the UK and Ireland, with exports to Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and North America. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their established finance team to assist with the day-to-day finance operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded finance professional who has proven accounts experience or a recent recent graduate working towards a financial qualification wishing to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
* Provide support across finance processes including accounts payable and credit control.
* Coordinate invoicing and oversee the interface between the ERP system and Sage.
* Ensure all invoicing support documentation (commissioning, electrical, and other building certifications) is collated in an accurate and timely way.
* Reconcile dispatches, installations, and invoicing to support accurate financial reporting.
* Assist with month-end close processes and reconciliations.
* Manage and process RCT (Relevant Contracts Tax) submissions.
* Support and collaborate with the Credit Controller to ensure timely customer payments.
* Contribute to process improvements within the finance function.
* Assist in audit preparation and support audit processes.
* Utilise Excel for financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting tasks.
* Other ad hoc financial duties as required.
Qualifications
* Part Qualified Accounts Technician / Part Qualified Accountant
Or
* Recent graduates with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
Essential eligibility criteria
* Recent experience in a fast-paced commercial accounting role (desirable but not essential)
* Prior experience with Sage and ERP systems (desirable but not essential)
* Excellent Excel skills (vlookups, sumif, pivot tables etc)
* Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
* Good numeracy aptitude and keen eye for detail
* Time management and working towards tight deadlines
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
