Job Overview
We have a vacancy for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant to work in our busy and friendly department. This position is based in Winchester, with occasional requirements to work across sites.
Responsibilities
* Accurately dispense in‑patient, discharge, and out‑patient prescriptions, supporting patient flow in a fast‑paced environment.
* Generate labels and dispense prescriptions.
* Answer telephone calls promptly and politely, dealing with queries and providing accurate information.
* Recognise self‑limitations and refer to an appropriate person when required.
* Dispense controlled drugs.
* Receive and hand out‑patient prescriptions in the dispensary as appropriate.
* Input data accurately into pharmacy JAC computer systems (labelling, returns, etc.).
* Dispense cytotoxic medicines following COSHH regulations, producing reliable and accurate work in a timely manner.
* Perform general housekeeping duties within dispensaries, including cleaning equipment and ensuring sufficient quantities of sundry items.
* Contribute to quality improvement of the pharmacy service through audits, practice changes and process reviews.
* Achieve objectives agreed at Individual Performance Review with line manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent).
* Excellent communication skills; flexibility and ability to work accurately under pressure.
* Good level of English and Maths (GCSE level or equivalent) and computer skills.
* Physical fitness for manual handling tasks.
* Prioritisation skills valued; personal development encouraged and supported.
