Qualified Social Worker - Youth Justice
Location: Cumbria
Pay rate: £40 per hour
Are you an experienced and passionate Social Worker, looking for career progression? Pertemps Profession Recruitment seeks experienced and passionate Qualified Social Workers to join the Youth Justice Team. The ideal candidate will be Social Work qualified with frontline social work experience. The role aims to divert children from criminal behaviour, working in partnership with agencies to assess, manage, and review programs for children who have committed offences.
This role is suitable if:
* You are passionate about helping young people, acting as both mentor and authority figure.
* You can connect with children and young people from diverse backgrounds, including those who have committed serious crimes, faced difficult circumstances, or have mental health concerns.
Working with children and young people in custody can be challenging. You’ll need to make quick, effective decisions, demonstrating patience and resilience. Your responsibilities include ensuring safety, supporting behavior management, and facilitating education and activities. Training will be provided to understand individual circumstances and react appropriately in complex situations.

Ideal candidate:
* Registered with Social Work England.
* Possesses SW, CSS, DipSW, or Social Work Degree.
* Experience in Social Services or voluntary agencies.
* Committed to continuous improvement and high-quality service.
* Excellent mediation and negotiation skills.
* Experience with diverse client groups and multidisciplinary teams.
* Knowledge of social work legislation.
* Over 4 years qualified experience.
In this role, you will:
* Assess risks, protection, and social care needs.
* Manage a caseload.
* Use communication skills to achieve outcomes.
* Create care plans respecting diversity and dignity.
* Support and advise colleagues and students.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Collaborate with service improvement leads to enhance practice.
* Work with partner agencies to improve services for children and young people.
* Incorporate feedback from those with lived experience.
* Support colleagues and develop best practices.
* Adapt to new practices and continuous learning.
* Attend face-to-face meetings 2-3 days a week as required.
