GSL Education are seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Worthing. This is an excellent opportunity to help young learners overcome challenges, build confidence, and develop essential emotional and academic skills in a nurturing environment. Role Overview: As an SEMH TA, you will help maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and engagement. As an SEMH TA, you will: Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs. Help create a calm, structured, and encouraging learning environment. Assist teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff in delivering tailored learning and behaviour support plans. Promote pupils’ resilience, self-regulation, and positive social interactions. Support pupils with emotional wellbeing and confidence-building. Monitor progress and share observations with staff to inform continued support. Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant: Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs (school or care experience desirable). Strong communication, teamwork, and behaviour management skills. A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to working with learners facing challenges. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
