KCR Solutions are delighted to be recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join a dynamic accountancy practice in Newcastle. The ideal candidate will be organised, confident communicating with clients and HMRC, and comfortable working with cloud-based accounting software. Key Responsibilities Perform client bookkeeping on cloud accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage. Code and analyse financial transactions accurately. Reconcile bank and cash accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare management accounts for internal and client reporting. Assist in the preparation of annual accounts up to trial balance. Complete and submit VAT returns for a range of clients. Review VAT returns prepared by others prior to final submission. Ensure VAT compliance in line with current HMRC regulations. Communicate with clients professionally via email, phone, and face-to-face meetings. Liaise with HMRC regarding client queries, submissions, and compliance matters. Provide timely updates and guidance to clients regarding their financial information. Skills & Experience Experience in a similar accounts or bookkeeping role (practice experience beneficial). Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, and work to deadlines. Knowledge of VAT rules and submissions. Competence with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). Experience with cloud accounting platforms (Xero/QuickBooks/Sage) preferred.
