The Opportunity The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), operated by the University of Strathclyde, is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, hard-working and personable AV / IT technician to work across all its sites supporting the set-up and delivery of a commercial conferencing and events function as well as providing daily support for AV and routine IT support for colleagues. As the first point of contact for colleagues and customers across our sites, including the flagship NMIS Netherton building, the successful candidate will need to be accustomed to working in time-pressured environments, have a positive can-do attitude, the ability to think and react quickly and a friendly and helpful manner when working with others. This role will report directly to the IT systems manager and will have day-to-day responsibility for the service, maintenance and installations of AV equipment across all NMIS sites. The successful candidate will work closely with the front of house, conferencing and events colleagues to deliver operational excellence to our paying and internal customers. The person will also be expected to support the wider remit of the IT team by assisting with routine enquiries, escalating where necessary. A proven track record in AV & IT support with a good base knowledge of all aspects of AV is required; these would include digital and analogue video signals including processing and routing, professional audio systems, control systems, AV over IP architecture, Bring-Your-Own-Device methodologies, lecture capture systems and Equality Act requirements. Contributions to the on-going development and maintenance of the NMIS AV & IT support service will be expected.
