The Role This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to step into a high-impact leadership role within our core financial operations. Operating within a highly collaborative environment, you will serve as the Purchase Ledger Team Leader, directly driving the daily workflow and strategic output of a busy, energetic department. In this position, you will lead, mentor, and empower our Purchase Ledger Clerks and Senior Clerks, fostering a culture of excellence. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that every function, from supplier payments to expense management, is executed with accuracy and aligned with our critical deadlines. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Mentorship: Act as the direct supervisor and first line of escalation for the team. You'll conduct monthly 1-2-1s to support professional growth and team performance. Workflow Management: Lead the daily planning and execution of all ledger tasks, ensuring deadlines are met across supplier and expense accounts. Payment Execution: Prepare and execute payment runs for review by the Purchase Ledger Manager and manage the timely allocation of BACS payments. High-Volume Processing: Oversee manual rebate and discount entries, manage credit card accounts, and handle high-volume supplier payment allocations. Complex Problem Solving: Assist the team in resolving complex queries and maintain a regular review of flagged items within the ordering system. Strategic Support: Assist with inter-business accounts, manage invoices outside the standard ordering process, and support the Purchase Ledger Manager with audits, special projects, and training. About You We are looking for a driven leader who takes pride in their work and stays calm when the pace picks up. Minimum of 3 years in a Purchase Ledger management or supervisory role. A natural ability to inspire and motivate a team to meet deadlines and maintain high standards. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are essential, as you will be navigating large volumes of data across multiple systems. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and with external suppliers. A sharp eye for detail and strong data reconciliation skills. A flexible approach with the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
