Key job responsibilities include leading a team of technologists and multiple software developers. Your team will be part of the larger Global App Experience organization, which is responsible for developing the apps and supporting systems for Prime Video (iOS, Android, Smart TVs, Fire TVs, and streaming devices).
A day in the life includes:
* Reviewing client architecture designs for scalability, performance, and customer experience impact
* Conducting 1:1s with engineering managers to unblock dependencies and prioritize customer-facing features
* Driving quarterly planning sessions on Prime Video streaming experience initiatives
* Partnering with Product, UX, and engineering leaders on customer experience goals and platform optimizations
* Presenting engineering progress on key initiatives to Director-level stakeholders
* Monitoring client performance metrics, establishing SLAs, and driving continuous improvement
* Mentoring engineers, leading hiring, and fostering innovation in customer experience engineering
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
