The role
As a Shipbuilding Functional Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Within this strategic and forward-thinking role, you will drive process development and improvements across all areas of our Rosyth Dockyard sites Shipbuilding programmes including but not limited to resourcing, training, technology and compliance.

Day-to-day, you’ll oversee and continuously refine our Shipbuilding Competency Framework, ensuring every team is equipped with the right skills, tools, and technologies to successfully deliver both current and future programmes.

* Champion a culture of continuous learning by recognising best practices and driving the implementation of improvement initiatives.
* Lead efforts to enhance productivity across all Operations personnel through targeted development and support.
* Foster strong, collaborative relationships within Shipbuilding and across the wider Marine Sector to align on safety, quality, and operational excellence.
* Provide evidence-based insights and strategic recommendations to Shipbuilding Project Leadership teams.
* Identify and implement the right technologies, equipment, and training to boost workforce performance and programme delivery.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth Dockyard, Fife. Initially, this role will be based full-time on site to support effective integration within our operations. Once embedded, there will be flexibility to work from home up to two days per week.

Essential experience of the Shipbuilding Functional Lead

* Proven track record in enhancing operational excellence across large-scale engineering programs and complex site operations.
* Expertise in project management and controls, including cost control, earned value management, and advanced planning tools and techniques.
* Strong leadership in managing multi-disciplinary teams, including oversight of major subcontractors and driving successful project delivery.
* Extensive experience in change management and senior-level planning, including integrated business planning and budgeting.

Qualifications for the Shipbuilding Functional Lead
You will hold a degree in Engineering or related field of study however, we value difference and don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and/or willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
