Salary: £60,000 - 60,000 per year Requirements: We require a minimum of an HND in a software-related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience working with software-based control systems. We require experience with IEC 61131-3 programming languages. We require experience across the full software and systems design lifecycle. We require working knowledge of P&ID drawings. We require the ability to interpret and work with electrical drawings. We require knowledge of network and serial communications protocols and associated hardware. We require working knowledge of process control. We require a willingness to travel and work away from home, including overnight stays. We require the ability to work as part of an established team and provide support. We require the ability to prioritise workload and work unsupervised when needed to meet project deadlines. Responsibilities: We design, document, develop, test, and commission PLC-based control systems. We cover the full system development lifecycle from initial design through to customer site acceptance. We ensure designs are delivered to the required quality and within contract timescales. We investigate and rectify defects at customer sites. We support and work with other engineers to ensure design interfaces are captured. We ensure designs are completed in accordance with our design procedures and safety design requirements. We contribute to the establishment and implementation of best practices in software engineering. We participate in cross-discipline design reviews. We approve software designs for formal issue both internally and externally. We attend progress meetings both internally and externally. We provide regular reports. We act as a coach and mentor to Software Engineers.
