Interim Company Accountant – Civil Engineering Location: Near Mansfield Salary: To be discussed on application Type: Interim (6 months) with strong potential to go permanent once established Working Arrangement: Hybrid (2 – 3 days from home per week) Are you an experienced accountant with experience in project accounting? We're working exclusively with a well-established SME civil engineering company based near Mansfield, who are seeking a hands-on Company Accountant to take ownership of their finance function. This role begins on an initial 6-month interim basis, with a view to becoming permanent. This is a highly trusted, standalone role where you’ll oversee all aspects of the company’s finance function - from day-to-day control to high-level reporting and strategic input. You’ll be working closely with the Directors to support sound decision-making as the business continues to grow. Key Responsibilities: Produce monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cashflow reports Lead on year-end accounts preparation and liaise with external accountants Maintain compliance with CIS, VAT, PAYE, and other statutory obligations Track project costs and profitability, supporting operational decision-making Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, and payroll Perform bank and control account reconciliations, and manage supplier payments What We’re Looking For: ✅ Essential: Previous experience in project accounting within construction or civil engineering ✅ Strong management accounts and reporting skills ✅ Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA is desirable ✅ Comfortable running a finance function independently ✅ Knowledge of CIS and job costing ✅ High proficiency with ERP systems and Excel Why Join this Exciting Business?
