Assistant Accountant
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary up to £27,444 per annum
We’re excited to be recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team following an internal promotion. If you love working with numbers and getting stuck into the detail but also enjoy building relationships and communicating with clarity and warmth, this could be the perfect role for you.
What will you be doing in this role?
As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll deliver high-quality financial support across CGA - from month-end reconciliations and budget monitoring to year-end accounts and cashflow forecasting. You’ll help keep our finance systems accurate and provide the insight our teams need to make informed decisions.
You’ll also support procurement and finance admin, working closely with colleagues to solve problems, share ideas, and drive improvements. It’s a role that blends technical expertise with collaboration - ideal for someone who enjoys working with people as much as they do with spreadsheets.
What are we looking for in you?

* Previous significant experience working in a finance-based role
* Ability to explain financial info to different audiences in a clear way
* Good working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
* Understanding of GDPR and how it applies to finance
* Ability to manage deadlines and different priorities
You will be based at our head office in Preston so living in an easily commutable distance to Preston (PR2) is essential.
It would be beneficial (but not essential) if you also have:
* An Accountancy Qualification (AAT or similar) or working towards.
* An understanding and knowledge of Social Housing.
* Experience preparing budget reports.
Working Arrangements
This role is office-based so you will be expected to travel to our dock-side offices in Preston. We offer flexibility wherever we possibly can to accommodate personal needs, balanced with business requirements. This can be discussed further at interview stage.
