Description
Title: Technical Product Owner
The Technical Product Owner serves as the primary owner for backlog scope and requirements for an Agile Scrum team, translating customer needs and technical constraints into clear, testable, developer‑ready work. This role goes beyond traditional product ownership by intentionally using AI tools to accelerate thinking, improve clarity, and increase technical depth. The Product Owner partners closely with engineering, UX design, architecture, product management, and customers to ensure predictable delivery; high quality products and services are developed, and rapid feedback loops to enable iteration of development are achieved.
How You’ll Succeed
* Research the user requirements, test and validate assumptions to define the MVP backlog for your team.
* Maintain a continuously prioritized, technically sound backlog with multiple iterations of “ready” stories.
* Deliver small, unambiguous, testable user stories with clear acceptance criteria and edge cases covered.
* Enable fast, precise collaboration with engineering by removing guesswork and staying highly available during sprints.
* Drive efficient sprint planning, productive refinement, and predictable delivery without sacrificing quality.
* Own story acceptance and protect the customer experience by validating outcomes against real workflows.
* Build strong cross‑functional relationships with Product Management, Architects, other Product Owners, and customer stakeholders.
* Use AI tools daily to accelerate drafting, validation, analysis, communication, and synthesis while applying human judgment to decisions and prioritization.
* Not be afraid to question, validate theories, and dispel assumptions with evidence‑based decisions.
What You Bring
* Strong Product Owner fundamentals with a bias toward execution excellence and delivery predictability.
* Technical fluency and comfort working close to architecture, APIs, schemas, and code.
* Daily, intentional use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) as thinking partners, not shortcuts.
* Ability to translate between customer language and system/engineering language with clarity.
* Skill in identifying ambiguity, technical risk, and dependency early—before it slows delivery.
* High standards for backlog readiness, acceptance discipline, and quality.
* Collaborative mindset that makes teams more effective without creating dependency.
* Curiosity, accountability, and a focus on outcomes and the job to be done over process.
* Perspective on the work being delivered, with the ability to step back, evaluate options, and collaborate with others to recommend well‑considered solutions to the team and wider stakeholder group.
* Strong team player and communicator, bringing energy and positivity to the team while building productive, high‑performing groups that consistently deliver in full and on time.
* Skills to help research and refine the deliverables with stakeholders/users to inform the backlog prioritization and build.
