A new and exciting opportunity to join our dispensary team as a dispensary counter assistant, across two sites, in our five-doctor GP partnership, based in rural Shropshire, just south of Shrewsbury.
With a long mining history, Pontesbury is one of the largest villages in Shropshire and offers a wide range of local services including independent shops selling local produce.
Our branch site is situated six miles away in Worthen, a small village approximately 13 miles west of Shrewsbury.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of a Dispensary Counter Assistant is to ensure medication is dispensed accurately to the correct patient.
Respect patient confidentiality at all times.
Handle patient queries effectively.
Assist the Dispensary Manager as needed.

Job responsibilities
* Deal with patients at the counter.
* Send text messages to patients.
* Ensure FP10 forms are completed correctly and signed by the patient or their representative.
* Handle requirements related to Controlled Drugs.
* Process prescription requests, handle queries, and file completed prescriptions.
* Take payments from patients, perform daily cashing up, and ensure the till has correct change.
* Dispose of unwanted medications according to regulations.
* Transport medication, samples, and supplies between both sites daily.
* Check stock and prescriptions in retrieval.
* Complete DRUMs (Drug Usage Monitoring).
* Perform other duties as delegated by the line manager.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience with EMIS Web clinical system.
* Experience using Microsoft 365.
* Experience working in a dispensary.

* Advanced numeracy skills, excellent keyboard and computer skills.
* Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
* Good time management.

Qualifications
