Job Description
Project Manager – New Product Introduction
Our client is a well-established, UK-based manufacturer - part of a larger, financially stable global group. Operating from multiple sites in the Yorkshire area, they produce high volume units and have a strong, experienced R&D/Engineering team of 40+ technical staff. This is a business with real heritage, a growing order book, and serious investment in its product development programme.
The Role
This role is a genuinely critical position sitting at the heart of the technical development programme, reporting directly to the Programme Manager and working closely with the Head of R&D.
You'll lead new product introduction (NPI) projects end to end - from defining scope and stakeholder alignment through to delivery, compliance, and documentation. Projects span both hardware and software/app development, with a compliance and standards-driven dimension. Cross-functional stakeholder management is central to the role: you'll work across R&D, production, supply chain, quality, compliance, commercial, and senior leadership.
What you'll be doing:
* Owning NPI projects through the full product lifecycle
* Managing project schedules in Microsoft Project and running regular progress updates to senior leadership
* Identifying, monitoring, and escalating risks and issues independently
* Coordinating tasks across cross-functional teams inside and outside of R&D/Engineering
* Overseeing technical documentation and flagging critical technical challenges
* Administering project tasks within JIRA, PLM, QMS, and ERP systems
* Acting as the main point of contact for internal teams and external partners including suppliers and compliance bodies
What we're looking for:
The ideal candidate will have project management experience within a technical environment - engineering, electronics, hardware, or technology - and will be comfortable working with physical products rather than purely digital ones. Experience of high-volume manufacturing or consumer electronics is a real advantage but what matters most is attitude, proactivity, and genuine interest in the work.
Essential:
* Project management background in a technical discipline
* Strong stakeholder management - comfortable from shop floor to boardroom
* Methodology flexibility: Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid as the project demands
* Proficiency in Microsoft Project and the wider Office suite
* Excellent communicator with a proactive, self-motivated approach
Desirable:
* PRINCE2 or APM PMQ/PPQ qualification
* Experience in mass production or consumer electronics environments
* Familiarity with standards-driven industries
* Basic electronics knowledge
* Valid passport (some travel may be required)
The practicalities:
37.5 hours per week. Core hours 9am–3.30pm Monday to Friday. The role is fully on-site in Rotherham initially - hybrid may be considered further down the line once you're embedded.
