The Practice Educator will support the training and professional development of all staff and students working within the service, to ensure that care and delivery is updated and implemented in line with evidence based, best practice to enable patients to receive high quality, safe dignified care.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the Senior Manager/clinical managers and support the Senior clinicians to create an effective learning environment within the environment with the principle aims being:

• Support the training and development of staff and other Health Care Professionals, within Team and the wider community within SBUHB

• Support the training and development of staff and assessing their competency to deliver aspects of care under the delegation of clinicians e.g.

• Newly qualified staff undertaking the integrated rotational programme within community and

• Pre-registration students and those HCSW undertaking further education to achieve their competencies and have a positive learning experience etc.

Main duties of the job

Take responsibility for the organisation, delivery, management and review of all education programmes and courses run.
• Develop, implement and evaluate teaching packages for the team and other health professionals ensuring a culture of learning and development. Together with the Senior Manager, develop, co-ordinate and run the induction, education and training programmes for staff and students, ensuring the delivery of an effective mentorship programme.
• Responsible for co-ordinating and developing induction, education and training programmes for staff and students, and ensuring an effective mentorship programme.
• Together with the Senior Manager Support the planning and delivery of away days within the as directed
• Ensure that a comprehensive programme for mandatory and statutory training is delivered in a timely fashion and organisational targets are met.

Essential Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria

1. Professional Registration e.g. NMC/HCPC etc
2. Masters’ qualification or equivalent demonstrable specialist knowledge of mentorship, education and development practice within specialism.
3. Mentorship Module
4. Sound knowledge of current acute and community issues, with an understanding of the relevance and local impact of issues and policy from the wider arena of the profession and the NHS.
5. Ability to demonstrate awareness of research-based practice and scope of clinical governance issues

Desirable criteria

6. Leadership Training
7. Teaching & Assessing/ PGCE qualification or working towards
8. Knowledge of service delivery systems in Health and Social care.
9. Knowledge of information technology systems.

10. Relevant clinical experience.
11. Evidence of contributing to practice development.
12. Evidence of own professional development and relevant further study.
13. Experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of Training & Development.
14. Demonstrates understanding and engagement with quality issues, e.g. benchmarking.
15. Experience of staff development and performance management.
16. Proven supervision/ mentorship skills.
