EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We are looking an Environmental Clerk of Works to join our Catchment and Biodiversity Team!

As an Environmental Clerk of Works at Severn Trent, you’ll help protect aquatic ecosystems by ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, focusing on rivers, ponds, and habitats. Your role includes site supervision, water quality monitoring, and incident response. You’ll work independently, liaise with stakeholders, and produce detailed reports to support environmental improvement, drawing on your expertise in aquatic ecology and field-based monitoring. You will act as a first responder in the event of a pollution and your duties will include site supervision, water quality monitoring, fish identification and advising on pollution mitigation.

Key Accountabilities:

* Environmental Compliance & Monitoring: Ensure adherence to environmental legislation, permits, and planning consents through regular site inspections, water quality assessments, and ecological surveys.
* On-Site Supervision & Incident Response: Oversee activities to protect aquatic ecosystems, respond to environmental incidents, and implement mitigation measures promptly.
* Stakeholder & Statutory Liaison: Act as the main on-site contact for statutory bodies and maintain strong communication with stakeholders, including local authorities and environmental agencies.
* Reporting & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of monitoring activities and produce detailed reports with recommendations to support continuous environmental improvement.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To be successful in this role you will ideally have a degree in environmental science, ecology, aquatic biology or related field.

You also must have:

• Full current UK driving license and willingness to travel to remote sites.
