Overview
As we continue to grow, we are seeking experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) drivers to join our dedicated team at Wincanton working on the Sainsbury's contract as a driver at the Waltham Abbey depot. You will be responsible for delivering products to store or collections from suppliers in a safe, timely and professional manner.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with guaranteed, pre-planned shifts in our 24/7 operation, giving you work-life balance.
Location: Waltham Point DC, Fleming Road, Waltham Abbey, Essex, EN9 3BZ
Hours: 48 hours per week: 5 days in 7. Average of 10:22 hours per day, including bank holiday and weekend working
Contract type: Permanent
Starting times between 18:00-20:00 and 20:00-22:00
Salary = £66,343.68 per annum based on 48 hrs per week plus excellent benefits
Interviews are held from Monday 29th September until Thursday 3rd October 2025 with a driving assessment (where applicable) held week commencing 6th October 2025
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform regular vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness
* Ensuring trailers temperatures are set correctly
* Adhere to all traffic laws and road safety regulations
* Ensure compliance with Tachograph and Road Transport Directive Legislation
* Deliver products to Sainsbury stores and supplier collections in a timely and professional manner throughout the Southeast region including London.
* Work as trained and in line with Risk Assessments during your duties
* Ensuring the internal and external cleanliness of the vehicle is maintained at all times
* Report any incidents, delays, or vehicle defects promptly
* Report any health and safety concerns or near-miss incidents
* Attending any relevant training as required to ensure you remain fully equipped to perform your role effectively and to assist in the development of continuous improvement.
What you will bring to the team:
* Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving license with no more than 6 penalty points
* Must hold a valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC Card)
* Must hold a digital tachograph card
* Ability to meet deadlines
* Right to work in the UK
* Commitment to maintaining exemplary health and safety standards that protect yourself and others
* Strong interpersonal skills to represent Wincanton and Sainsbury's professionally at every store location
* Proficiency in digital tachograph operation
* Knowledge of Southeast England Road networks
