Job Title: Occupational Therapist We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to work with individuals of all ages who have physical disabilities, including children and older adults, in either a community or hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conducting functional assessments for individuals with physical disabilities, particularly in a community setting, and will also have experience in assessing complex pediatric cases. Additionally, the candidate should possess a deep understanding of specialist equipment for both children and adults to promote independence, as well as knowledge of health and social care legislation, health and safety, and risk management.
Responsibilities: Conduct functional assessments for individuals with physical disabilities
Assess for major adaptations to meet complex needs for both children and adults
Make sound clinical judgments and appropriate recommendations for aids to daily living, adaptations, and care packages
Deliver training and coaching to staff of various grades
Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting
Undertake supervisory responsibility for staff of various grades, including student occupational therapists and apprentices
Promote the role of Occupational Therapy within the workplace
Respond positively and flexibly to changes in the workplace
Demonstrate self-motivation, time management, and problem-solving skills
Make sound decisions while working in a demanding environment
Requirements: Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
IT skills, including experience with the Office package, emails, Word, and Excel
Ability to manage conflict and prioritize workload
Physical ability to perform moving and handling of people and equipment
Full driving license and access to a vehicle insured for business purposes
Knowledge of Equality & Diversity issues
Willingness to work flexible hours
Alignment with the Directorate's statement of principles
Additional Requirements: Proven experience in quality assurance and reviewing services for children and young people
Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory safeguarding requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to championing the rights and well-being of children and young people
This is a 3-month contract with the local authority.
