At Medtronic, you can begin a lifelong career of exploration and innovation while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.
A Day in the Life
Medtronic is among the largest medical technology companies in the world. Through innovation and collaboration, Medtronic helps to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. Last year, our medical therapies for the treatment of over 40 major conditions improved the lives of more than 75 million people worldwide.
Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a life-transforming therapy for patients with movement disorders. Following two successful years of launching BrainSenseTM and, most recently, AdaptiveDBS technology to the market, we are looking for a new Market Development Manager role in the UK&I. Despite the life-changing potential of this therapy, less than 1 in 10 patients in the UK have access to DBS.
We seek a passionate, energetic, and experienced market developer to challenge this. The role involves identifying barriers at both national and hospital levels that restrict patient access to DBS and developing solutions to overcome these barriers. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced and passionate team in the UK during an exciting period for the therapy and Medtronic.
Responsibilities may include the following:
1. Secure continuous new patient growth by developing and executing market development plans at both the national and hospital levels.
2. Build and implement plans to achieve routine reimbursement for future DBS indications across the UK.
3. Identify key barriers at the national and hospital levels that restrict access to DBS, leveraging professional societies, patient groups, and internal stakeholders, and develop bespoke solutions.
4. Identify hospitals with an appetite to increase patient presentation for DBS surgery.
5. Assist hospitals in building business cases that outline the clinical and economic benefits of investing in overcoming access barriers.
6. Define KPIs and measure strategy execution to support commercial activities and strategic priorities.
7. Partner with sales and marketing teams to execute key market development programs.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
1. Business or healthcare-related university degree or equivalent with 5+ years in the healthcare industry.
2. Positive attitude, entrepreneurial spirit, passion, energy, and business acumen.
3. Flexibility and comfort with extensive travel (70%+ across the UK, occasional beyond).
4. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Proven success in a market development role with experience in movement disorders and knowledge of the UK healthcare system and business case development is preferred.
