Job Purpose:
As an Interim Operations Leader for Lucy Zodion, you will be responsible for oversight of the daily workings of warehouse, production/assembly areas and maintenance driving efficiency and productivity targets. You will ensure deadlines are met through managing robust planning and execution. You will optimise the use of resources effectively to meet production demands, whilst providing a safe and satisfying working environment to our employees.

Lucy Zodion is an industry leader in advanced street lighting controls, power distribution and electric vehicle (EV) supply solutions. Our products assist customers with energising urban and highways infrastructure from the ground up. Our range includes photocells, power distribution enclosures, EV connection feeder pillars, isolators, cut outs and switchgear.

We are looking for an experienced Interim Operations Leader to join the operations team at Lucy Zodion. The role involves working collaboratively across areas within operations such as quality, procurement, production engineering, project administration, tendering design and services. The role will also involve working alongside other functional peers within sales and marketing, new product development, customer services, finance, IT and HR. The role will ensure operational processes are adhered ensuring efficiencies and productivity targets are met.
Managing the LZ estate and infrastructure ensuring service/maintenance contracts are executed and creating a safe work environment for all staff.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide leadership for operations, and logistics in effective and high quality assembly facilities..
To manage and motivate the teams through promoting and fostering a strong team culture and open communication in:
Assist supervisors in conducting appraisals where required
Be first line of support for any people issues arising within Lucy Zodion operations
To ensure that all departmental staff are fully trained in all aspects of the job
To satisfy sales demands efficiently whilst meeting ‘promises’
Continuously seek efficiency and service-level improvements.
Ensure that the relevant control systems are in place and adhered to, and quality standards are maintained.
Recommend changes to and ensure that all quality, environmental and health & safety requirements are met
Design, plan and operate within agreed budgets
Evaluate and instigate workforce resource and equipment requirements in line with business requirements and objectives.
With the supervisors manage the workforce capacity – foretell short & medium term labour needs and match workforce to labour needs
Investigate, recommend and introduce process and equipment changes.
To be customer focused.
To be the extra-ordinary customer ’champion’ resolving issues as they arise by analysis and action, feeding back to the workforce why the issue arose and how it needs to be resolved
With the stock controller manage performance against finished product ‘stock outs’
To work with the Procurement/Quality teams to ensure the efficiency of our supply-chain
Provide high quality communications on Operations and Logistics within the business
Ensuring that communication between departments is ongoing and utilised to maintain an environment of continuous improvement.
Produce high quality monthly reports to the MD and others as required
To run appropriately timed operations meetings
To review performance and identify improvements
To undertake and document high level Business unit and production/process reviews
To attend monthly business review meetings with Leadership Team
To provide high-quality facilities management on the Lucy Zodion sites
Manage services including water, air, electricity, fuel for the Lucy Zodion business
Implement preventative maintenance regimes to minimise unscheduled intervention
Maintain a safe working environment for all operational directs and staff
Implementation of any new policies and procedures relating to the production process.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
Education & Experience:
Experienced Operations Manager 5 years plusRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Previous experience within an engineering/manufacturing business
Excellent communication skills (internally and externally)
Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations and IOSH trained
Conflict resolution skills
Familiarity of Health and Safety Regulations
Experienced lead in practical problem solving
High level of experience working with HR
Must have a positive and confident approach to tasks
Excellent people and time management skills
An ability to think logically
Up to date IT skills
Excellent attention to detail
Full clean driving license
