Main Purpose
To manage all contract and workshop operations for the North Devon and Somerset West and Taunton contracts, ensuring contractual obligations are met, staff are managed according to company policies, and SLAs and KPIs are achieved. The role includes optimizing vehicle availability, minimizing maintenance costs, and ensuring legislative compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage multi-skilled technicians at North Devon and Somerset workshops
* Build and maintain customer relationships, ensuring service delivery meets contract requirements and maximizes satisfaction
* Ensure health and safety compliance across sites and staff
* Oversee maintenance activities, including repairs, servicing, warranty claims, and paperwork, ensuring cost-effectiveness and KPI compliance
* Control workshop operations, including work scheduling, quality assurance, and parts management
* Manage third-party suppliers to support maintenance services
* Use fleet management systems for reporting and cost control
* Manage on-site personnel, ensuring professionalism, training, and performance management
* Support the wider business by maintaining vehicles across other contracts and rental fleet
About You
Key Skills
* Recognized vehicle engineering qualification for HGVs (e.g., City & Guilds)
* Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) National
* Effective health and safety management skills
* Professional, proactive, and communicative with problem-solving skills
* Experience managing workshops and teams
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Influencing skills at all levels
* Organizational skills with attention to detail
* Municipal vehicle maintenance experience
* HGV category C driving license (advantageous)
* IOSH Health and Safety qualification
* Membership of IRTE or similar organization

40 hours per week
