Job Description
Maintenance Manager
An opportunity to join a leading organisation with exceptional facilities, where your expertise will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence and compliance across a unique and dynamic site.
The Role
As Maintenance Manager, you’ll oversee all maintenance activities across a large-scale facility, ensuring equipment, systems, and infrastructure operate efficiently and meet strict compliance and welfare standards. You’ll lead on-site projects — from refurbishments to capital investments — while managing budgets, external contractors, and ensuring all works align with Health & Safety and regulatory expectations.
You’ll be instrumental in driving a “safety-first” culture, developing your team, and maintaining smooth site operations that support ongoing research and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance across the site
* Manage external contractors, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to a high standard
* Lead capital and refurbishment projects, including budget planning and tender management
* Ensure compliance with industry and legislative standards (ASPA 1986, AAALAC, ISO 9001:2015)
* Maintain accurate maintenance schedules, documentation, and reporting systems
* Promote best practices in Health & Safety and foster a proactive safety culture
* Monitor stock levels, coordinate maintenance activities, and ensure site security and biosecurity procedures are followed
About You
* Qualified in a mechanical, electrical, or building services trade (HVAC, plumbing, or electrical preferred)
* Proven experience in maintenance management — ideally within laboratory, hospital, or highly controlled environments
* Skilled in leading teams, managing contractors, and overseeing complex projects
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with a proactive and solutions-driven approach
* Competent user of Microsoft Office and computerised maintenance management systems
This role offers the chance to join a forward-thinking organisation committed to excellence, safety, and professional development. You’ll be part of a collaborative management team with opportunities to grow your career and contribute to vital operational success.
