We are looking for a skilled test engineer for our Test Department who will help us test our products and maintain the highest quality standards for our customers. As a Test Engineer in our Northampton facility, you will work closely with the engineering team to conduct, and analyse test data to ensure the quality, safety, and performance of mechanical and electrical products and systems before product launch. You will ensure that our final products meet industry standards and regulations as well as our comprehensive internal safety and quality standards. Main Responsibilities Set up & carry out a broad range of mechanical and electrical validation tests, following the guidance of testing plans and instructions from the Test Manager. Work closely with customer support and engineering teams to develop products, which may include creating new tests and experiments. Review new project information and work with design and applications engineers and customers to define project requirements. Support sales a with technical expertise, producing technical reports and certificates in line with defined procedures. Work closely with quality and production teams to form multi-disciplined problem-solving teams. Liaise with other CVG sites to calibrate on joint projects or to assist in supporting other plants. Investigate returned warranty seats and failures and their application to determine the cause of failure and highlight changes which need to be made as a result. Contact and arrange testing at external test sites for requirements outside of the lab scope. Coordinate in-house and external calibration of all lab equipment. Manage and administrate all service contracts for the test lab and wider business. Provide technical consultancy to other parts of the business on areas of expertise. Maintain a good working knowledge of the standards and legislation relevant to seating. Control internal standards, and update references to BSI, Integers and customer specs. Skill requirements Degree or Higher National Diploma in Engineering, or 2 years experience. Ability to work and address issues independently Strong verbal and written communication skills. Keen interest in science and engineering. Excellent problem-solving ability. Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles. Ability to independently visit customers/ Suppliers and discuss Test requirements, quality issues and documentation requirements. Use honest and open communication. Take responsibility for a challenge or question in a constructive manner. Use facts & logic to solve problems effectively; consider reasonable & creative alternatives, looks beyond the obvious. Physical Requirements Some lifting of seats or seat parts onto rigs. Some use of stepladders required. Use of Hand tools for fixing seats and equipment onto test rigs.
