Job Introduction

Turning Point is a leading health and social care social enterprise, supporting people with mental health needs, learning disabilities, substance use, sexual health, and employment services. We are committed to delivering inclusive, secure, and resilient digital services that enable safe, effective outcomes for the people and communities we support.

Turning Point operates a complex hybrid IT environment spanning on‑premises and cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. These platforms are critical to frontline service delivery and must meet high standards of availability, security, and operational assurance.

We are now recruiting for a Senior Infrastructure Engineering Manager, who will be responsible for the leadership, resilience, and continuous improvement of Turning Point’s core IT infrastructure services. This is a hands‑on leadership role, accountable for translating strategic and architectural direction into high‑quality operational delivery across infrastructure, cloud, network, identity, and security platforms.

The role offers flexible remote working, with occasional travel to key locations such as London or Manchester for collaboration, governance, and supplier engagement.

Main Responsibilities

* Lead, manage, and develop the Infrastructure Engineering team, embedding a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.
* Provide hands‑on technical and operational leadership across infrastructure services, including compute, storage, networking, cloud platforms, identity, and core security services.
* Ensure the availability, resilience, performance, and capacity of all infrastructure platforms, supported by effective monitoring, alerting, and proactive service management.
* Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex or high‑impact infrastructure incidents, leading root cause analysis and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
* Translate enterprise architecture designs and technology roadmaps into secure, resilient, and supportable engineering solutions.
* Define, maintain, and enforce infrastructure engineering standards, patterns, documentation, and operational runbooks.
* Oversee incident, problem, and change activities within the infrastructure domain, ensuring alignment with ITIL‑aligned service management processes.
* Manage hybrid and cloud infrastructure platforms, working closely with architecture and finance teams to support cost management, optimisation, and FinOps controls.
* Identify, assess, and manage infrastructure and technology risks, ensuring mitigations are implemented and escalated appropriately.
* Ensure infrastructure services comply with organisational security policies, ISO27001 requirements, and vulnerability management processes.
* Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, holding partners accountable for service quality, resilience, and contractual obligations.
* Act as Operational Engineering Lead or Senior Supplier for infrastructure‑related projects, ensuring effective transition from project delivery into business‑as‑usual operations.

Please see the attached JD for further information.

Ideal Candidate

You will be an experienced infrastructure leader with a strong background in delivering and operating secure, resilient IT infrastructure services within complex enterprise environments.

You will bring:

* Proven experience leading and developing infrastructure engineering teams, balancing strategic objectives with hands‑on operational delivery.
* Strong technical hands-on expertise across compute, networking, storage, identity, and security platforms, including cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
* A minimum of five years’ experience working in a senior infrastructure role across a diverse environment, including networks, cybersecurity, and architecture development.
* Experience operating within IT service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL), with strong capability across incident, problem, and change management.
* The ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and effectively to non‑technical stakeholders, articulating business impact and risk.
* Strong stakeholder and supplier management skills, with experience managing third‑party performance and service assurance.
* A calm, structured, and decisive approach, particularly when responding to high‑impact incidents or operational challenges.

Experience in cloud cost optimisation, FinOps practices, leadership development, or security assurance is desirable but not essential.
