Role Overview:
Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is representing a leading professional services firm in their search for an Assistant General Counsel to join their in-house legal team. The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial lawyer specializing in technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI. The successful candidate will provide practical, business-focused legal advice to the company's global operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal support on various legal and regulatory issues for a global professional services organization.
Advise on technology, data privacy, data protection, AI, and related matters, supporting day-to-day commercial and regulatory legal activities.
Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations across jurisdictions and within company policies.
Support the Technology and Risk Management teams with legal expertise.
Develop and implement governance, policies, procedures, and playbooks.
Review and advise on new services and solutions, including governance processes and legal/regulatory considerations related to technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI.
Manage external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring cost-effective and efficient work.
Deliver practical, business-oriented advice while managing risk and compliance.
Present on legal topics and contribute articles as needed.
Mentor and support junior team members.
Candidate Profile:
UK-qualified lawyer (or equivalent outside the UK) with significant experience at a major law firm or relevant in-house experience.
Strong legal skills with the ability to handle complex legal and regulatory issues.
Strategic risk management skills, with the ability to identify issues and suggest mitigation strategies.
Experience negotiating, drafting, and reviewing commercial agreements across jurisdictions.
Ability to work independently and manage complex files, collaborating effectively with teams.
Capable of balancing legal risk management with business growth needs.
Self-motivated, thriving in a fast-paced, global environment.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Additional Details:
Location: London (hybrid working – 1-2 days in the office per week)
