Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced SHEQ Advisor to join a leading civils contractor based in Leighton Buzzard. This role is critical in ensuring full SHEQ compliance across all operations, supporting project teams to deliver safely, efficiently, and in line with all regulatory and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving compliance across Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality standards. You will ensure that all site activities fully adhere to current legislation, regulatory frameworks, and internal procedures, maintaining a strong focus on audit readiness at all times.
You will carry out regular site inspections, compliance audits, and risk assessments, ensuring that all documentation, RAMS, and permits are accurate, up-to-date, and in line with project and legal requirements. The role will involve identifying non-conformances, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring that lessons learned are effectively communicated across the business.
You will also be responsible for supporting incident investigations, ensuring full compliance reporting and root cause analysis is completed, while maintaining detailed records in line with company and client expectations. Working closely with operational teams, you will provide guidance and training to ensure consistent understanding and application of SHEQ policies, driving a proactive and compliant safety culture across all sites.
Requirements
Candidates must have proven experience in a SHEQ Advisor role within the civil engineering or construction sector, with a strong emphasis on compliance and auditing. A thorough understanding of UK health and safety legislation, environmental standards, and quality management systems is essential. You must be confident conducting audits, managing compliance documentation, and working closely with site teams to ensure adherence to all procedures. Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH or equivalent are required.
