Job Description:
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Data Engineering specialist to join our Central Digital team. As a Data Technical Specialist, you will be recognized as an authoritative source of technical expertise within the business for Data and as a key member of the broader team of technical experts by senior leadership.
You will be responsible for defining data management policies and procedures that ensure proper collection, storage, maintenance, and utilization of data, in line with business strategy. This includes managing data governance, quality, and retention policies.
Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and architecture that enable data-driven decisions across the organization. Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and product teams to ensure seamless data integration, transformation, and accessibility for analytical and operational purposes.
Require deep and/or broad knowledge in technical data management.

Responsibilities:
* Lead data integration, ETL, and conversion planning and coordination.
* Resolve complex data issues using analytical processes and professional judgment.
* Oversee data transfer processes from paper to electronic systems.
* Define and share policies, standards, and best practices.
* Support strategic collaborations and provide technical leadership.
* Research data sources and design solutions for specific customer needs.
* Generate, resolve, and track data queries; modify databases as needed.
* Troubleshoot and offer solutions based on project needs.
* Support development of new data capabilities and ensure data security and privacy.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Mathematics, Science, Computing, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in software/data engineering roles delivering end-to-end data pipelines.
* Understanding of infrastructure components and data solutions.
* Knowledge of data processing technologies like Spark, PowerBI, Tableau.
* Proficiency in scripting and automation languages for data pipelines.
* Experience working in agile environments.
* Membership in relevant professional bodies; UK CEng or equivalent.
