SRG are currently supporting the search for a Principal Scientist with expertise in enzymology.
You will be an inspirational scientist with an exceptional record of applying your deep knowledge of enzymology and biochemistry to impact projects. Within this role, you will provide scientific leadership in designing biochemical assays and bespoke mechanistic data to characterize cancer targets.
The Role:
* Provide scientific leadership to define and implement best practices for biochemical assays and mechanistic studies.
* Design and develop novel, physiologically relevant biochemical assays for various target classes using recombinant proteins.
* Characterize cancer targets at the molecular level.
* Define biochemical profiling processes to support the characterization of novel small molecules for oncology targets.
* Characterize small molecules in vitro using recombinant proteins and various assay technologies, focusing on kinetic and mechanism of inhibition studies and their cellular translation.
* Represent the department across projects and cross-site initiatives, both internally and externally.
* Prioritize your own and your team’s work according to project goals, ensuring timely delivery of objectives.
* Manage performance and development of direct reports.
Requirements:
* PhD (or equivalent) in Enzymology, Pharmacology, or related field.
* Extensive experience and expertise in enzymology within a drug discovery environment.
* Deep understanding of steady-state and pre-steady-state enzymology; experience in modeling and simulation is advantageous.
* Thorough knowledge of biochemical assays and detection technologies, especially in physiologically relevant systems.
* Proven experience in assay development across target classes.
* Strong external reputation in enzymology, demonstrated through a broad network, publications, presentations, and conference participation.
