ROLE SUMMARY:Geneva English School is a well-established international school located just outside Geneva, Switzerland on the stunning shores of Lake Léman. Recently acquired by the Inspired Education Group, the school combines a strong academic tradition with a commitment to holistic education. Its state-of-the-art campus provides an exceptional learning environment, offering students extensive opportunities in theatre, music, visual arts, and sport.We are seeking an outstanding Head of Pastoral & Wellbeing to join the school with immediate effect.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for leading and further developing a comprehensive pastoral care and wellbeing strategy across the school during an exciting new phase of growth and integration within the Inspired group.The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture, ensuring that every student feels safe, valued, and empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Lead and enhance the whole-school pastoral and wellbeing strategy in alignment with the school’s vision and Inspired’s values.- Oversee safeguarding, student welfare, behaviour, and inclusion frameworks, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international best practice.- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (or oversee safeguarding provision), maintaining the highest standards of child protection.- Review and develop pastoral policies and procedures that promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive school culture.- Lead and manage Heads of Year, tutors, and pastoral staff, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight.- Monitor student wellbeing data and implement early intervention strategies where required.- Work closely with academic leadership to ensure a cohesive approach to student progress and personal development.- Oversee the development of wellbeing programmes, including PSHE and character education.- Build strong and trusting partnerships with parents, maintaining clear and proactive communication.- Coordinate student leadership, mentoring, and community-building initiatives.- Oversee support services, including counselling provision and liaison with external specialists.- Contribute as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team to the strategic development of the school.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:- A recognised teaching qualification and relevant academic degree.- Significant experience in a senior pastoral leadership role within an international or independent school setting.- Strong expertise in safeguarding, child protection, and student wellbeing frameworks.- Proven experience leading and developing teams.- A deep understanding of adolescent development and inclusive education practices.- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.- The ability to build trust with students, parents, and staff.- A strategic mindset combined with strong operational leadership skills.- High professional standards, integrity, and a clear commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.- Experience within a British or international curriculum (desirable).SAFEGUARDING STATEMENTInspired Education Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment.
