The role will be carried out over 5 days per week – working alternative weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on a rota basis DBS requirement: Enhanced DBS Additional requirement: Driving Licence The role: We are seeking a Senior Family Worker to provide intensive support and interventions to children/young people under 16 and their families/carers where children are identified on the edge of care. The role involves the use of innovative and evidenced based interventions to work with families to provide a rapid response in developing their problem-solving skills and promote safety and increase stability in their home life. In order to carry out this role, you will hold a relevant childcare qualification (e.g. NNEB, NVQ Level 3, BTech or equivalent) and have substantial experience working with children and families. You will demonstrate strong knowledge of child development, mental health, and social care legislation, along with excellent communication, IT, and reporting skills, and the ability to plan and review targeted interventions. Key responsibilities: To work intensively with families to deliver crisis intervention and support and promote effective change to allow children to remain at home where it is safe to do so Work alongside statutory services to align plans for intervention To contribute to a range of meetings, including child protection strategy and conference meetings and court direction both verbally and in writing. This may include giving evidence under oath To contribute to the assessment process To assist statutory children’s services (where appropriately identified and agreed) with interventions that offer continuity for families whilst in the process of further assessment To ensure through direct work and observations that the voice of the child is captured and key to interventions to inform planning and evaluation of vulnerability and need To maintain through training and personal and professional development an understanding of key issues that affect families and how best to support these families through recognised evidence based interventions To ensure all interventions are fully recorded in line with the recoding policy and procedures To provide service according to identified needs of children and families outside of standard working hours directed by team manager between the core hours of 7.30am – 8.00pm (Mon – Fri) and 9.00am – 5.00pm (Sat - Sun) What the client is looking for: Childcare qualification e.g. NNEB, NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, BTech in Childcare or equivalent Significant experience of working with children and families Understanding of child and adolescent development Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health issues Detailed understanding of legislative and policy context for children’s social care services Demonstrable ability to communicate with children, families and other professionals Ability to record accurately and concisely and to prepare formal reports IT skills Ability to plan, implement and review specific interventions How to Apply: Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
