About us
We are an organization committed to continuous improvement, driven by a determination to deliver high-quality care that satisfies our patients. We are no longer in special measures, having opened two new theatres at our Elective Surgical Hub in King George Hospital (KGH). Our Chief Executive, Matthew Trainer, has been recognized as the top CEO by the Health Service Journal.
Our main sites are KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We manage two busy emergency departments with over 330,000 visitors last year. We are actively working to secure £35m to transform the A&E at Queen's and eliminate corridor care.
Our patients benefit from facilities such as the Women's Health Hub in Ilford, the Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch, and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch. These CDCs operate 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing an additional 88,000 scans annually.
Our diverse team of 8,000 staff come from 146 countries, with many working flexibly. Over 400 staff are enrolled in Ofsted-accredited apprenticeship programs. We are proud to be a London Living Wage employer and are preparing to introduce an electronic patient record system to improve staff workflow and patient care.
