A local authority in Essex is looking to appoint a number of experienced Temporary Accommodation Officers to join their Move On team on a contract basis for an initial 3 months.
This role would suit someone confident working directly with households in temporary accommodation, supporting move‑on pathways and ensuring cases are progressed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Acting as the first point of contact for households in temporary accommodation, building trust and managing expectations
Carrying out home visits to complete occupancy, identity and affordability checks
Updating housing needs assessments and identifying appropriate move‑on routes into settled accommodation
Verifying household composition, including adult dependents for housing register eligibility
Updating housing register applications to reflect changes in circumstances
Working closely with the Move On team to support property matching and successful housing outcomes
What you'll need:
Recent experience working within temporary accommodation or homelessness services in a local authority
Strong customer engagement skills and confidence managing sensitive conversations
